Peru - Tuesday 20 October 1998
Everybody wakes up at 5 AM, but I feel terrible. I don't feel like going into the jungle now, so I decide to stay in my bed. All rest of the group goes for a walk of several hours.
Later, I hear that they made an enormous expedition through the jungle. They went to a lake and canoed. Tough but impressive.

I think I feel sorry for not joining this excursion. The group returns at half past noon. We stay in the lodge until 4 PM. We spend our time swimming in the river. Nobody tells us there are Crocodiles here!

Joanne and our deputy-guide Juan seem to like each other. He speaks Spanish but doesn't speak English, she does speak English but she hardly speeks Spanish. They teach each other their own language.
In the afternoon, we visit a jungle farm.

This farmer builds bananas, papaya, sweet potatoes, ceder-wood, avocado and all kinds of other products. We can try most of them!

They also have several chicken and even a real parrot!

At night, we drive in our boat and search for crocodiles. In the dark they are visible because their eyes glitter red when you shine with a light. Because they are blinded by the light, they don't move! We see a little one (shortly) and a larger one. Very exciting!!

Joanne appears to be in love with Juan. They have been learning each others language all night... yeah sure... love doesn't need words!
Back in our lodge we go to bed immediately. We have to wake up very early tomorrow...
